본 연구의 목적은 청년의 가구소득이 여가활동 참여를 매개로 사회적 관계망에 미치는 영향과지역 간 차이를 밝히는 것이다. 이를 위해 국무조정실이 주관하고 한국보건사회연구원에서 수행한2024년 청년 삶 실태조사 자료를 활용하여 청년 15,098명의 자료를 분석하였고 R 4.4.2의mediation 패키지와 lavaan 패키지를 활용하여 매개효과 분석과 조절된 매개효과 분석을 수행하였다. 연구 결과 청년의 가구균등화소득이 높을수록 여가활동 참여가 증가하고 이를 통해 사회적관계망이 확장되는 매개효과가 확인되었으며 소득의 직접적 영향 또한 유의하게 나타났다. 한편이러한 경로는 지역에 따라 차이를 보여 수도권 청년의 경우 여가활동이 사회적 관계망 형성에미치는 영향이 더 크게 나타났다. 본 연구는 청년의 사회적 관계망 형성 과정에서 경제적 요인과여가활동의 역할을 실증적으로 제시하고, 지역 특성을 고려한 청년 사회적 관계망 지원정책의필요성을 제언하였다.

This study aimed to examine how young adults’ household income influences their social networks through leisure participation and how this relationship varies across regions. Using data from the 2024 Survey on Youth Life commissioned by the Office for Government Policy Coordination and conducted by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs, the analysis included responses from 15,098 young adults. Mediation and moderated mediation analyses were performed using the Mediation and Lavaan packages in R 4.4.2. The results show that a higher income is associated with greater leisure participation, which, in turn, expands social networks, confirming the mediating role of leisure activities. Income also has a significant direct effect on social networks.

Additionally, the pathways differed by region, indicating that leisure participation had a stronger impact on social networks among young adults living in metropolitan areas.

This study empirically demonstrates the role of economic factors and leisure activities in shaping young adults’ social networks and highlights the need for regionally tailored policies to strengthen their social connections.
